Blogging- and Humanity Breathes a Sigh of Relief

Disclaimer: I am wary of writing this post. I fear that someone published a similar article in the 1440s, when the printing press was invented.

But as most of you were not around in the 15th century, and if you were around your memory probably left you 500 years ago, I’m going to write it anyway. So here goes:

I have never met a boring person.

In 26 years of earth, I have yet to encounter someone who was not in some way interesting.

For much of human history, individual interestingness was suppressed- limited media of communication, societal hierarchies and few profitable daily occupations left much human value confined- and unshared- in the walls of imagination.

Enter the blogosphere.

The blogosphere is the name given to the world of blogs and blogging, where regular people like you and me can communicate and share our interestingness with each other. It is literally a sphere- another dimension, where there exist no obstructions to the sharing of substance.

I have been blogging for almost a year now, and blogging seriously for roughly two months.

When I entered the blogosphere I was blown away. People blog about most anything- politics, science, music, cars, poetry, sustainability, wizardry, hidden passions for dancing, how to build a home from scratch, how to scratch a home as you build (I’m not sure that one exists yet, but believe me, one day it will).

People have so much pent up passion in them, resources of knowledge and wit and perspective that have never been communicated outside of individual heads or households. To see millions publishing the wealth that till now they have kept inside, is to witness humanity breathing a sigh of relief, exhaling the fact that literally each of its members offers something to give.

This is a trend that manifests itself throughout the Internet, but with blogs, I feel as if we’ve reached a new high.

I studied communications and political science in college. Classic communications draws a line between leaders and readers. Many a political theory draw their line between leaders and masses. But with the advent of blogging, everyone has the niche in which they can lead and be read, and individuals who classically were defined as leaders can identify whatever they want to learn, find a blog on the subject probably written by a former masses-member, and be led.

Is there any special skill or passion you have, that you’ve never shared? A blog is your chance to share it. Have you anything you’d like to learn, but never took the time to learn it, or had the money to pay to be taught? Try the blogosphere- you might be surprised to find a blogger just for you.

Many religious and political traditions point to some sort of ultimate redemption or fulfilling of a true human potential. If humans really possess such infinite potential, then the more they can share and develop that potential, the sooner redemption will come.

And if blogging is any example, I’d say we’re getting pretty close.
